Corporate Bespoke Carved Maps
Little Orchard Workshop creates large format carved wooden maps and heritage artworks for factories, engineering firms, historic and environmental organisations. Each commission is digitally designed, CNC carved in solid hardwood, and hand finished to create a permanent record of industrial legacy or environmental change.
From boardroom centrepieces to centenary commemorations, our work captures the geography, infrastructure, and evolution of industrial sites in precision detail.
Case Study Example – Carved Factory Map
Midlands Steel Works Heritage Map
Client: A long-established UK steel manufacturer
Commission: 150-year anniversary corporate artwork
The Brief
The client required a large-format artwork to commemorate the evolution of their primary steelworks, including original blast furnaces, rail sidings, expansion phases, and surrounding industrial housing.
The Solution
Little Orchard Workshop designed a 1.2m × 1.2m by 40mm thick in African Teak red wood panel map showing the site in an earlier historical incarnation. From the map records a map image was curated and ecstatically edited to give a pleasing informative view of the area as it had been in 1903 and submitted for approval.
Fabrication
Solid African Teak (Milicia excelsa)
CNC carving to give a visual and textual art work
Hand finished and treated with preservatives for a maintinance free item
Brass plaque with historical timeline
Outcome
The piece was installed in the executive boardroom and is used as a centrepiece for client tours and corporate storytelling. The client reported increased visitor engagement and positive brand perception tied to heritage and permanence.
